By expanding my small classroom library, I can better meet the needs of my students. With more high-quality books in my classroom library, I am proving immediate and frequent access to books. I am increasing motivation and a genuine love for reading. My reluctant and struggling readers will have access to a variety of high-interest books to choose from. Many of my students don’t have access to quality books, so being able to expand my classroom library with books to reach all learners will allow them opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have. With a variety of high-interest books, I would have the opportunity to form book clubs which would increase teamwork and help my struggling readers build confidence and independence. My English language Learners would have access to books to increase their fluency and expand their vocabulary. Having multiple copies of high-interest books would allow all my students the opportunity to grow as readers and writers.
