Having access to real-life play materials, such as a play kitchen and kitchen materials is an important part of our classroom day. On a daily basis, my students have time to work on peer interactions, request, manners, and overall play skills. My students always gravitate towards the classroom kitchen area and I would love to update the area and add more opportunity for vocabulary development and fun. When a child has access to material we can talk about the vocabulary, learn how to share, or simply make a pretend sandwich together by taking turns. The students I work with are developing skills to understand the world around them and gain new words to communicate and share.
