I honestly believe that a students environment can greatly affect their performance and attitude towards learning! I go to great lengths to provide a safe, clean, bright environment where students feel safe, successful, and excited about each day! We start every day and each lesson sitting on the rug in the center of our classroom. At this time the rug in my classroom is older, not very clean, and too small for all of the students to have their own seat. I would love to have a new rug to welcome them to their new classroom and begin the school year! It would be wonderful if students could have their own personal space when it is necessary to focus on a story or direct instruction on a new topic. It will also be the place they read stories with their friends, complete tasks using many different classroom supplies, and interact and build relationships! I can not this of a better way to welcome in my new students and get them excited about all of the learning that will be taking place in our new wonderful space...the center and heart of the classroom!
