Since I have been a PE teacher, I have had the goal of introducing students to as many sports as possible to help them develop their social skills, confidence, and talents in a sport they enjoy. Since not every student likes every single sport, I like to introduce my students to as many sports as possible. It has been amazing for me to see the skill level of several of our students at our elementary school during the four years I have been their PE teacher. With that said, I would like to introduce them to the sport of Pickleball, which has been rapidly spreading across the country. Pickleball courts are popping up everywhere and people are finding it to be a great family activity. Our school already has badminton nets that can be lowered down to the height of pickleball nets. The school will also contribute the pickleballs for this project, so we will just need the money to purchase the paddles. One thing I’ve learned as a PE teacher and coach is that students gain a tremendous amount of confidence once they master a skill in a sport. I teach a variety of sports at our school with a hope that our students will enjoy at least one sport so much that they will want to excel and participate in the sport as much as possible during their lifetime. Students also learn how to cooperate and work together on a team as they engage in each sport during their PE class. Your contribution to this project would be greatly appreciated!
