As a first year teacher, I have been working to create a classroom library that is not only academically stimulating but also inspiring and captivating. After getting a chance to learn more about my students' interests in the past few months, I now know which genres, authors, and level books will broaden their imagination and challenge their thinking. "The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss My students struggle with reading and only two are on grade level. However, I strongly believe with a culturally relevant library that also caters to their interests such as sports, natural disasters, dancing, music, and much more, they will be inspired to read more. Lastly, I want to give my students the books they need to succeed in any career they choose, whether it be in STEM, business, education, etc.
