As I have started this school year, I have learned that most of my students are below grade level in reading. Each year, I feel like my class gets lower and lower in their reading level. I think a big part of this is that they do not have books at home, or a parent reading with them and talking about what they are reading. These literature circle books and novel studies will help my students have access to a book at home and questions to guide them. They will learn how to come prepared to a book club, make comments, and respond to others.
