My students love to learn about authentic Hispanic stories. They are avid to learn about the culture and enjoy reading my old books from when I was a child. I have a couple of books that they share and to ensure everybody learns something new they present to the class what they read. The students enjoy sharing the new stories with their peers. They create plays, posters and power point presentations in class so everybody is exposed to different stories. Enlightening the hearts and minds of a child starts with a wonderful journey by reading new and exciting stories from other cultures. This project will allow my students to have access to a variety of stories. The first and second Friday of the month we will have a reading activity. Students will use the flexible seatings and the books to read a story. Then on the third Friday they will create a presentation for their peers about their readings. They can choose from creating a poster, power point presentation or acting out the story. The last Friday they will present to the class. By inspiring literacy around the world my students will be able to learn about other cultures, listening to the audio books and let their mind travel to exotic places with wonderful characters. Creating this reading corner in my classroom will improve my student's fluency not only on the target language but also in their native language.
