The piano is used daily in the music room. It is used to help with singing, demonstrate melody lines, tuning for some band instruments, and to accompany the choir. In addition to being used for teaching, students also play the piano. We use it for students to take private lessons to perform and demonstrate to other students what they are learning. It is also used in jazz band, with one member of the jazz band playing the piano in rehearsals and performances. The piano is a daily part of both teaching and learning for all classes in the music classroom, including general music, choir, and band. The piano currently in our classroom is literally falling apart. One leg has broken off and sometimes the electronics malfunction and the piano will not make any sound at all.
