My students live in a bubble of their own experiences and challenges within their community. Often, they do not realize that there are people in this country who struggle in ways they cannot imagine. With growing issues of immigration and understanding what life is like in other countries, these books will help my students to understand why so many people do choose to immigrate to this country. We have a growing population of immigrants in our community, and these texts, with their range of location and how they arrived here, can provide much-needed insight into understanding these decisions that they, mostly, have not had to make.
