Learning environments have a direct impact on student achievement. In a flexible seating classroom, students have a choice about physical space, which teaches higher order thinking. Physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, and improved behavior. The flexible seating will encourage children to find the best spot to say calm and focused. Presently, the classroom is a former office and choir room (it has risors! There is no furniture. I am trying to fund furniture; couches , chairs, tables and materials( mats, pillows, organizers) to support this project. I want to create a beautiful, calm space for these students. This space will encourage collaboration and community.
