These texts will be at the core of our main reading units this year. We will explore culture and identity as we read Things Fall Apart and Antigone will be the basis for a detailed study of coming of age. These texts will be used to teach close reading skills and literary analysis, among other important skills. Students will share these texts and keep detailed reading notes to track symbolism, themes, motifs, characters, etc. throughout the unit. Having class sets will allow us to read together and track passages accurately so that we can discuss and write about the texts.
