My first graders have a love for learning, especially for reading! One of the best ways for students to build their confidence and abilities is through exposure of fluent reading. Many of my students are EL learners so having this tool would be tremendous. Many of our students are not read to at home so this creates that experience for them. When a book if being read to them but the student is in control of turning the pages, it allows the child to feel as if they are actually reading. tImplementing a listening center will not only engage my students, but create lifelong readers.
