Through the difficulties of the past years, fact fluency is at an all-time low. In 5th grade, we are committed to helping students build the foundation they missed due to COVID-19. However, there is very little time to cover 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade skills. That is where these math activities will come in great handy! These materials will give my students the ability to practice their fluency facts independently. This is a huge benefit in the classroom as it affords me time to meet with students in small groups to help bridge gaps, while the other students work on their own. The Power Pens give in-the-moment feedback to students as they practice their math facts. The Math Folder Games give students an opportunity to have fun and work with their peers while practicing fluency. The Math Brain Electronic Game will take things to the next level by testing the students' math capabilities against the clock. All three are designed to make learning fun and engaging without being glued to a computer. Without these foundations, 5th-grade math will not be possible. If a student cannot multiply accurately, they will have great difficulty dividing. Let's build their foundations together so they may soar in the future!
