Close your eyes and imagine sitting at a table, your friends, teachers, posters, and books are all in a language that you cannot understand. At that point what is left to do but sit back and retreat into yourself. This is my biggest fear that I see in my students. While they have all come to school for the first time the differences between students who are native English speakers and those who are not is evident. With the materials provided like the magnetic alphabet and the alphabet bingo, I can make the learning process more enjoyable and break the gab between my students. Even with our language barrier these tools are familiar and allow us to learn through play.
