Reading is a life skill that is needed to succeed and participate in daily routines. My job is to help students become literate and find topics they love to read about. My classroom needs bookshelves to hold all the wonderful stories. I would love to decorate the reading area in a way that gets students excited to read! Reading opens doors that students may not even know exist. When students learn to read, they have the tools necessary to find any answers they are looking for. They have the world at their fingertips. Many students already know what they want to be when they grow up. I help students find "just right books" that peek their interests. If a student wants to be a Firefighter, the student will find books that relate to that topic. Reading is so much more than comprehension, it is a tool, a life skill that everyone should have.
