My students need two new iPads to be used during group projects throughout the year in both math and language arts. Throughout the year, students who have mastered a specific skill have the opportunity to extend their learning through student-directed group projects using these iPads. Students will also use these in combination with our classroom Osmo machines to help make online learning more interactive for students. One project students will use this resource for is a graphing project during our data unit in math. Students pick something they are interested in - number of mugs in teacher's classrooms, number of chairs, average length of pencils - and collect information using math tools like ruler. Students then have the opportunity to show what they know about graphing by choosing how to display the information they collected. After displaying the data, students analyze the information and present their findings to the class. Having access to the iPad would give students a chance to be prepared for a digital world, presenting their information and displaying their data in digital programs.
