Students who have access to art are able to express themselves in ways in which they cannot do verbally. When they are comfortable and enjoy their surroundings, they are able to feel safe, respected, and will be able to relax, opening up to their academic world. Outlets such as fidget toys provide students with trauma a way in which to relieve pent up energy like anger, safely which improves the classroom learning environment for all students. By donating to our project, you will not only help to reduce symptoms of trauma, but you will also be supporting the work our team does to improve and increase student attendance, attention, and focus, which ultimately will increase their academic achievement. Because this is a new space for them, the Counseling Enriched team want to use the furniture and decor resources requested as a way to help create a pleasing, safe and orderly environment to grow while addressing their mental health needs in a safe and equipped environment. Food is especially important as many youth do not have access to food at home, and it makes for a great incentive reward for reaching daily goals.
