The students I work with come from a very low-income neighborhood in the Bronx, New York. I work in not only one, but two, second grade ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) classrooms as a Special Education Teacher. In this setting, approximately half of the students have IEP's and are students with disabilities, while the other half of the students are general education students. In both classrooms, the students put forth their best efforts each day, some students just need a little more support than others. One of their favorites times of the day is center time. Center time in my classroom is a time where students get to work with their peers and learn in a way that is fun, but that also promotes independence. Students are asked to complete games or activities that help activate their prior knowledge using skills they have already learned.
