I will be using the materials I have requested to teach Reading through American History. These supplies will make a difference with my students by allowing them to have a choice in the resources they are able to gain knowledge from. They will dive into several books to strengthen reading comprehension skills such as: compare and contrast, summarizing, sequencing events, as well as relating history to their current world. Research tells us that the jobs of the future involve collaborating as well as working as a team. I plan to use these materials to work as a group while pooling upon several resources to learn about our American History. My expectation for my students is for them to research information, then become the teacher to their peers. These materials would be the tool to make this happen.
