We have a new classroom and very few instruments to fill it with! Our students love making sound with all different kinds of instruments and experience how each one is unique. We hope to acquire a set of instruments that will allow our students to each have an instrument at the same time. Having different instruments also allows the students play different styles of music from around the world. Instruments provide students the opportunity to develop basic music skills that are the foundation for all other music learning. They provide practice for developing steady beat, strong rhythmic foundation and the ability to experiment with creation of melody and movement of pitch. Students will use these instruments in whole class, small group, and individual settings. Their understanding of various musical concepts will be enhanced through the use of these instruments. Furthermore, these instruments can be used on stage during performances to incorporate music from different cultures into our program. We can't wait to start making sound!
