There is so much to be said about offering choice in the classroom. Children amaze me with the way they manage to move in and around a chair. Children try many different positions and angles to try and get comfortable in their seating. Sometimes they go to the extremes and end up falling out of the chair. I see students struggling so much with their seating its distracting to their learning. By donating a variety of different seating choices to these enthusiastic young children, you are offering so much more than just a seat. By giving them a choice of seating you are giving them a chance to focus on their learning without thinking about their comfort, especially to those students who need to rock, wiggle, and shift while they work. This will help children with their engagement and participation, but most importantly their overall success!
