Our school is in a very small community on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in South Dakota. 90% of our children qualify for free lunch program. It is a K-12 school under one roof with less than 200 students. Students are excited about learning and will be able to travel the world through the Internet and books. Books, an iPod, and a digital camera would help my students to do projects like Google earth. The camera would be used to add a Google earth book through a Lakota book. The iPod is used to access Google Earth and the books are all part of the project. Some of the Standards addressed include: Reading; 2.R.3.1 Students can recognize different genres of literature 2.R.3.2 Students can identify the literary elements of character, setting, plot, and theme in literature. 2.R.4.1 Students can compare and contrast different versions of literature from different cultures. 2.R.4.2 Students can compare and contrast different stories from various time periods.
