The materials for my project will not be used for home learning, but rather in the Special Education Resource Room. Special Education students struggle daily with challenges such as Autism, ADHD, anxiety, learning disabilities, sensory disorders and physical handicaps. Flexible seating options have been proven to support students with these challenges in the areas of focus and information processing. When students have the option of choosing their classroom seats, active learning takes place where students are happy and engaged in their own education. A calming environment also helps to support the social and emotional needs of these students. Flexible seating options, globe lights and motivational quotes help to create an environment that feels safe to students and provides opportunities for learning to take place.
