Fifth grade is the first year students take a standardized state test in the content area of science. Our state standards change continually, and textbooks do not always cover the standards sufficiently. Consequently, my students need additional resources in order to succeed. Because my students have a variety of background information to build upon and different learning styles, my students need to have hands-on experiences in order to master fifth science objectives. Having these resources will allow me to share information from the textbook with my students, then reinforce the lessons with hands-on materials. I firmly believe the resources listed in this project will allow my students to make a connection between the textbook and the real world while having fun!
