Social-emotional learning and daily activity are an essential part of, daily, academic learning. Students who have experienced trauma or who struggle with self-regulating their behaviors benefit from even 10-15 minutes of a mindfulness activity. Teachers who incorporate daily routines to practice mindfulness support student development over time, both academically and socially. Yoga is only one way students can learn to be more mindful. By integrating regular time to practice yoga, students will lean how to use breathing techniques and body movement to support their self-awareness and brain development. Blocks are only one tool that can help students safely develop their yoga practice. An added benefit - these yoga props can even be used with students who struggle sitting on the floor!
