Aloha! We are a Hawaiian focused charter school in Hawaii. Hawaii charter schools only receive $6,846 per student per school year, the lowest rate in the nation, compared to the $11,823 per-student allocation from the State Department of Education (DOE). Also, this per-student difference does not include facilities, another area that public charter schools must fund on their own, unlike DOE schools. All this being said, our school has never had an actual science lab, or science classroom because of the lack of funds. Our students will be able to learn and apply traditional science with indigenous science for authentic learning in the field and in the classroom. This will further prepare our students for college and career readiness. Please help support our school to start a lab here for not just this class but the generations to come through this school!
