Help increase student interest and engagement by providing them with a classroom library that celebrates diversity! Students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds and encompass many cultures. Providing students with books that have characters who look like them, talk like them, and share the same cultural beliefs will increase student engagement and foster a love for reading. A major complaint amongst parents and students is that our current reading program is not inclusive and does not celebrate diversity. I plan to use these books to support our literacy program and for independent reading and checkout. My hope is to create unity through diversity.
