Studies show that students are able to learn better when they have the freedom to freely fidget, burn extra energy, or gain energy after a delicious lunch! With 8-year-olds, having these options is necessary in order to keep students focused, awake, and not interfering with others learning. With these desks and floor chairs, students will have the ability to either sit, stand, or do a combination of both without disrupting their peers during lecture and when collaborating on assignments and projects. My students love playing games, and often end up standing and dancing throughout the game anyway. Because students are standing, these desks will allow these students to better see and focus on the game while they play. I don't want to sit at my desk all day, and I cannot imagine that an 8-year-old would want to sit for 7 hours a day either. My students often miss information not because they aren't interested or don't want to learn, but because they simply cannot stand sitting for that long. They need external stimuli and these desks will provide that!
