Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work using a variety of flexible seating options such as stools, exercise balls, scoop seats, and the classroom carpet. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating and are not just stuck in a chair. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed. Kindergartners also struggle to sit still for any period of time so these flexible seating options allow my students to move without disturbing others or losing focus. My students become advocates for their own learning when they learn to pick a seat in the classroom that helps them learn best. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble cushions are great for students who need a little bit of movement while they work. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The bean bag chair will be great for students who need that little bit of extra comfort while they work. They can cuddle up in this over-sized chair and complete their work. Finally, the pillows are the perfect addition to our classroom library. They add comfort as well as some extra sensory support for students who may need that. Adding more options to our flexible classroom will allow my students more choice in their learning environment as well as meeting social and emotional needs.
