Dictionaries are one of the most important tools to help students become master readers. In my classrooms, dictionaries are used on a daily basis and multiple times a day. Whether taking a test, working independently in stations, or simply exploring new words to learn, dictionaries are my students' best non-human friends in the classroom. Although our school has provided some dictionaries for classroom use, these dictionaries are not always useful for my 4th graders as they are sometimes unable to find some more challenging words. Because I want them to be prepared for their reading and writing state test at the end of the year, I believe it is very important for them to have a quality dictionary that they have mastered using throughout the year. Help me give my students the necessary tools to succeed academically!
