Having the proper tools to work with, gives my students at least an equivalent start to the others who are not in impoverished areas! Basic tools assist in making numbers come to life and understanding mathematics easier. Being able to strategically decompose numbers using erasable tools helps make rudimentary parts of mathematics easier to understand. Students will be able to follow along increasing their understanding in math and other related areas. For example, my students will be pictorially using place values to understand and relate adjacent base ten units from millions to thousandths thus helping to make the complex less complex.
