These items will help students tremendously inside the classroom. Having flexible seating will allow students to feel empowered, by having the choice of different seating. This will promote a greater love for learning within the classroom through comfort and choice! It is also a way to express their individuality, through choosing the type of seating they want. It's also important to me that students get the chance to move around because they have a longer day than most elementary schools. Flexible seating also allows a more creative way for students to collaborate with one another. I believe that it's important for students to be able to share ideas- to build confidence, independence and social/communication skills both inside and outside the classroom. The leveled books I have included will also allow students to read grade appropriate books that will reach the wide range of learners within my classroom. With such a wide range of books, it again, allows students to pick books based on what they enjoy and want to read. I believe it will promote a love of reading both independently, as well as whole group, which we engage in on a daily basis.
