With implementing the Idaho State Science Standards (based on NGSS) this year, it has become increasingly important to find resources for engaging informational reading for Earth Science. Our text is a great resource, but finding a high-interest source of appropriate science-rich information is crucial for student buy-in. Scholastic's SuperScience magazine is an exciting, age/reading level appropriate resource that kids will WANT to pick up to find out more about Earth Science. The text is geared for the common interests of a 3rd to 6th grader so that the information is not daunting. It also has a lot of quality photos and is formatted for a modern student's need for constant stimulus. They find success in not being as challenged by a higher reading level. It reinforces their desire to want to read!
