A key component of the ELA (English Language Arts) and Math curriculum in my multiage classroom is differentiated small group instruction. All students meet at a table in small groups so I can teach each child at their individualized reading or math level. This is the most powerful time of our day and needs to be a safe, comfortable, and desirable setting. I'm lucky enough to have a fabulous table that fits up to six students (plus myself). The current stools we are using are 10 years old, very unstable, and many have a cracked base. My hope is that these new stools will help make my learners less concerned about getting a "good/bad stool" and more focused on learning.
