Children have different learning styles. In my classroom, children are encouraged to work together in various ways, such as groups, partners or individually. I would like to offer various work spaces to support their work, comfort and collaboration. Our class space should encourage collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This is not possible when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and change their position/location, as needed. It supports student focus, stamina and perseverance by providing alternate work spaces in the classroom. Students will feel empowered because they have some control, and choice, in the classroom environment.
