Our students are learning to be free thinking, innovative and creative designers. Part of innovation is collaboration, and you can't collaborate without productive communication. The lab notebooks will help the students keep track of their thoughts and ideas, give them the chance to sketch and share their design ideas, and reflect on what works and what doesn't. These are great skills that are necessary for any career path they choose. Through this class the students will be creating pop-up books, understanding how forces combine to make paper features interactive and engaging. They will combine the ideas anchored in STEM with their learning in the English Language Arts to enhance learning in both subjects. Learning how the paper components work together and testing and fine tuning their creations, they will develop an understanding of physical forces and develop spatial awareness.
