My students are bright little nerds and they have a hunger for manga that I can't afford no matter how much I keep trying. My students will shun novels but will grab a manga without a second thought. They will look me in the eye and tell me " I hate reading", but will fight over volume 1 of a manga. I want to take the fear of reading away from my students and if backwards books with pictures helps them then I want to get as many books for them as I can. I hope that with reading these mangas they will gain not only the skills of reading but the confidence to take on the novels that seem so daunting to them.
