I want to make my classroom a place of hands-on learning that offers a lot of student voice and choice, especially with seating options. I follow a workshop model for guided reading where students get whole group instruction as well as small group instruction. This includes personalized learning lessons to allow students ownership over their own learning. By providing students the opportunity to choose their seat and allowing them to move, they will be more motivated and productive learners. Flexible seating is a key tool in allowing students to be more creative, collaborative and comfortable while they're learning. Wobble chairs and stools will be used around the classroom at different desk set ups which allow students to choose how they want to sit that day. Students will get to take initiative in their learning and decide which tool allows them to work best. Thank you for helping me provide this opportunity for my own students!
