Reading a book with a group of students can be a magical experience. It is my absolute favorite part of my job; being able to bring a story to life for struggling readers or students who claim to “hate reading.” These supplies will help me create hands on activities and lessons for each of the novels we will read together. The sticky notes will be used frequently for the students to write responses to the story, as well as each other, and mark important passages in the book. I will use the card stock to create learning centers for each book and the students will use it to create brochures as well. Students will also use the poster board to create group projects for each novel as well. One such example is a theme map poster over “The Giver.”
