Allowing students flexible and choice seating is important. Children like to move around and sometimes sit on the floor, on a beam bag, at a desk, or on a comfy carpet! I allow my students to move around to different areas of the room. A carpet would provide ample space to allow a warm and comfortable area in my classroom. A child could grab their book baskets and find a carpet spot and engage in reading or even math. They can sprawl out and not feel like they have to sit in a chair all day long. Having access to a carpet in my classroom will invite readers to read at their leisure and comfort. Who doesn’t love to grab a book, lay on your belly or back or just enter a world of imagination!
