This project has students learning coding basics using Sphero robots along with the Sphero app. The Sphero follows the commands students create using different operators and controls. Students will program their Mini to draw paths, use Scratch blocks, and write their own JavaScript text programs; the block code of Sphero is a great foundation and transition to the more complex coding classes found in high school. Lastly, this project engages both students who think coding is too complicated and well as high achieving students. I love to see how engrossed the students become and how they create games and activities I hadn't considered; in short, the students become self-motivated, empowered and engaged.
