When students have a sense of ownership in their classroom and it is designed with them in mind, it builds a stronger sense of community and responsibility. Children, by nature, are active individuals; I want to honor that and allow them opportunities to choose where and how they sit in order to do their work. When students are given a choice in where they sit to complete their work, they are able to increase focus and boost academic success. Sitting at a desk may work for some, while others are more comfortable on the floor or standing at a raised table. I want to provide spaces for all my learners to do their best work.
