Kids naturally want to create things. They are not meant to sit at desks and do paperwork all day long. I want to enhance my students learning and enthusiasm to be in school. I want them to stop being addicted to video games and tablets. Too often I observe kids who get stuck and can't manipulate objects to solve a problem. They just quit and come ask for me to solve it for them. Problem solving is crucial to succeed in life. Creating things with building sets such as Legos and Lincoln Logs will improve their spatial awareness and creativity. Students will have improved hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. (2 skills that are severely lacking in video game kids) Learning through play also develops problem-solving and mathematical thinking.
