The flexible seating bean bag options that I am requesting will be used in a part of my room to create a reading nook. Currently, my students do not have a place to sit comfortably and read their books during class. Flexible seating gives the students a choice of different seating and allows them to move from a traditional desk to a more welcoming seating arrangement. Flexible seating builds community! Not only does flexible seating allow for comfort, but it also builds community by teaching students to take turns and share spaces with their classmates. Students learn to spread their time between several seating options and allow fellow classmates to experience the flexible seating as well.
