My students are excited to learn about new places, people and experiences. The best way for them to be exposed to this is through the stories they will encounter within these books. I serve in a low-income community with children from homes where their parents work two to three jobs and are unable to help with homework. Many of my students are English Language Learners (ELL) who are reading two to three levels below their grade level. They are positive hard workers who are keen to learn and have developed a positive responsibility towards the care for classroom materials, especially books. I know that these books will provide the right stimulation to help my students experience success as they read these leveled books. They will be able to think critically, draw conclusions and make predictions as they read. These selected books will assist me in conducting small group reading, whole-class reading and peer to peer reading. Students will also be able to do their independent reading and further prepare them to be "Learners today and Leaders tomorrow". The students will be able to borrow a book to take home on the weekend. They will be happy to receive these books and will enjoy reading these wonderful stories!
