My students will use this reading carpet to increase their fluency, expression, and vocabulary. This addition, our classroom will also continue to build on their love of reading and encourage positive reading behaviors throughout the year and into the future. Our reading carpet will also provide my students with great practice at social skills. My students will learn to cooperate, discuss meaningful literature, and listen and share thoughts and opinions. These reading and social skills will help create active and positive citizens for our community! Every day, my students will join me on the carpet to hear me or a guest reading with expression and joy. When students see how much fun reading can be, they will eventually become lifelong learners themselves!
