Young people love color, and for some it is much more engaging than plain old black and white. For my special needs kids this is especially true. They struggle with colorless curriculum. Their special education curriculum gives materials in color, but I don't have access to a color printer. It's in color on the computer, so why not paper? I want my students to be able to interact with what they are learning. Color makes it possible. When we are talking about geography, a map does no good in black and white. When we are discussing the solar system, we all know that the planets are not grey.
