As all of my students are learning English we do lots of talking and writing in my classroom. Students love to tell stories to each other and then use the classroom computers to "write" their stories. This way they are also learning how to use computers to type which will help them when they take the state standardized tests in third grade which are all given on the computer. Having a color printer in our classroom would allow me to print out the students' stories so that they can share them with each other as well as their families at home. This would greatly motivate my students to write more stories when they see that they are able to be "authors" and have their stories published. Writing is very challenging for many students but it is a very necessary skill. I like to let my students use the computers to type their stories as much as I can because it is a lot more motivating than using paper and pencil. However, students can't share their stories that they type without having a printer. This printer would really help all of my students with their writing skills.
