My students are part of AVID (Advancement Via Individual). AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. We focus on WICOR strategies (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) to develop strong students. The binders are necessary as part of the student's organization for their notes and other class resources. They keep all core classes and their AVID elective in the binder and learn to use the binder as a study tool in all classes. These large binders are expensive and for some students, acquiring a large 3-inch binder can be a financial burden.
