The Galaxy Tablets for our classroom will ensure that students have an opportunity to become digitally literate, 21st century learners and communicators. The materials will be used to teach and enhance reading instruction as well as digital literacy!! The tablets will enable me to give more personalized instruction to each student. The American Library Association's digital-literacy task force offers this definition: "Digital literacy is the ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills." The tablets will be used daily by students during small group station rotations. Our reading curriculum has an awesome online component. This includes reading online, responding to text through writing online and games to practice our phonics and decoding. We will use the tablets to read and respond to our text online! More and more we live in a digital age and I want to prepare my students through an educational lens!
